Counting Down

Tick tock. Did 12 miles on Saturday and felt really tired, a little sick to my stomach but overall OK at the end. Very happy to be starting my taper. My long run this coming Saturday is only 8 miles. Never imagined 8 miles would be a relief for me.

I signed up for two more half marathons this year, the Disney Princess and NYC Half for which I am going to lead a TNT team. I am so excited to run the streets of my beloved city.

I have been relatively pain free lately other than normal soreness.

I am doing a Juice Till Dinner cleanse today and tomorrow. Yum and ahhh.... really makes me feel good!

Listening to my body

Body: "I'm really tired and I think I need a rest."
Mind: "You did run on Wednesday, longer than you have ever run and TNT said it was rest or cross training day."
Body: "And we did do a hard pilates session yesterday..."
Mind: "But what if I slip and slack and give up by resting?"
Body: "Gotta do 5 miles tomorrow, please rest."
Mind: "Fine, no workout today but I am going to obsess about it all day until I run tomorrow."
Body: "Whatev."

The internal dialog that I will probably always have with myself rests largely in the right to not do everything to the nth degree. Cut myself slack without slacking. Yes TNT has today as a rest day, but every other rest day I have done core fusion or pilates or even gone for a run. I am not sure why but I have not yet developed the confidence to rest without thinking that I am going to just stop running. It is illogical but powerful. I'll get there but man, it is quite a nagging voice.

Body: "Thank you, by the way."

TNT Day Off

Used my TNT day off to do a pilates reformer session, I swear it is the perfect compliment to running. Core strength, some targeted upper body and the lower body work just makes my tired, tight muscles sing!

My Garmin 450 came last night but I did not get out to let the satellites find it yet. Looking forward to my long run tomorrow to wear it and see what it can do! Also, my fuel belt came. Bright red and so cute!

An aside, I spoke with my sister last night. She has been a runner for as long as I can remember and for a small window of time on the phone I felt like a runner too. So much of this is a state of mind and a game between me and my belief in what I am capable of doing. I sometimes feel if I can just get my mind to agree that I am a runner and I can do this, my body (with hard work) will follow right along.
